I don't know how to dress for snow…

Sunday, December 7, 2014

As a native Chicagoan, my feelings about snow are mixed.  While it is lovely to look at when it's first fallen, it's a pain to drive in and an even bigger pain once it gets all dirty and starts to melt.  I was pretty happy that we made it through an entire German winter last year with only about 5 minutes of flaking in November.  I didn't see snow until SB and I took a weekend getaway to the Black Forest!

This year is going to be different.  It has already snowed, and while these photos are from a few days ago and the snow has already melted, I was in something of a panic when the snow fell and stuck.  You may remember that I have a weird fear of driving.  When I bought my car and had to learn to drive it according to German law last fall, I managed to work myself into several tiny panics.  I got over it, but now my lovely, adorable, temperamental Beetle has taken to beeping at me when I drive around roundabouts or just shutting down in the middle of the road (it's an automatic, but I swear by the way it likes to stall out, it has aspirations of someday becoming a manual).  Add snow on cobbles and I was a hot mess.

… so I got dressed up.  Like totally inappropriately dressed for snow.  Tuxedo pants and a blazer happened.  And did I mention that my job is teaching dance and gymnastics?  Suffice it to say that I got plenty of odd looks in this outfit, however fabulous it may be!

… and yes… it was literally so bright out, I needed to wear shades!
