#SustainableSunday with Color by Amber

Sunday, September 3, 2017

Colors, colours, combos... I just love to play around with different palettes.  I also love to spell "colour" the British way, but for the purposes of today's #SustainableSunday feature, I'll swing back to the American spelling because this week, I'd like to tell y'all about Color by Amber.

I don't often worn with direct mailing companies these days, but when stylist Leila contacted me and shared some more about her company, I figured I'd do a bit more investigating.  "Why?" you ask.
Because Color by Amber is a company that is proud to be "Full Circle," meaning that they give back to the people who create their jewelry in the way of education initiatives, skills training, and help with irrigation.

Also, all of their jewelry is made with sustainability in mind.  About 40% of of the content that goes into each piece is recycled, everything is zero waste, and layers that go into the jewelry come from all over the world!  For example, in this outfit, I'm wearing some silver beaded bracelets that each have a pendant.  Suspended in ecoresin is fray paper, indigo mali, and woven copper that has been created by women in Indonesia, Mali, and Nepal.  They look awesome on their own but are also a great addition to a stack (and I may need to order another set for my mum for Christmas!).

Their 2017 catalog is full of tons of awesome designs that come from around the world! Take a look at it and comment back here below with your favourite items!  Also... stay tuned for a really fun giveaway in the near future!

What's sustainable about this outfit?

: the scarf was a handmade gift from SB's deployment
: the leggings were hand-me-downs from my mum
: the earrings are sustainably made
: the bracelets are sustainable made
: the rings are handmade
: the necklace is handmade
