Today was one of those days that was full of reminders. It was a day that I think I've been needing for a long time.
After flying to Copenhagen and spending a few hours site seeing, SB and I hopped on the train and headed north to Sweden to meet a family friend who was generous enough to take us in for the night. They have an apartment in a larger city, but they also have a cottage out in the country, so that is where we went next. The cottage is over 100 years ons (!!!) and they recently built a little guest house and sauna at the back of the property. It was cozy and I felt like we were sleeping in an Ikea catalogue.
In the morning, after a good 10 minutes of SB pushing me on the tire swing (reminder to be a kid), we were taken to a moose refuge.
Yes, you read that correctly.
There are about a zillion moose in Sweden and many of them are killed less-than-legally. As a way to combat this senseless killing, the moose refuge was set up. I don't think I've ever been as excited to see the moose up close as I've ever been with any other wild animal. Apparently, my dad's love of Bullwinkle when I was a child ingrained itself into my brain somehow. We got so close to one of the moose, we were able to sneak our hands through the fence to pet his antlers (highlight of the day).
After this grand adventure, we wound our way back down to Malmö, where we were set to meet our cruise ship. Along the way, we encountered a convention of old American muscle cars (complete with one flying a Confederate flag), got our fill of "fika" (basically the Swedish equivalent of "going for coffee") at a lovely little place tucked off the main road back by a lake, and then had a late lunch in the city before saying goodbye to our wonderful hosts and boarding the ship.
I tell ya... there's nothing like a good swing, a wildlife encounter, a wander, and some cinnamon rolls to reset one's soul.
^ and once again, I am wearing an eco-friendly top thanks to Onno Shirts! This tee is made from bamboo and is probably the softest piece of clothing that I currently own. I suppose that wearing eco clothes played it's fair role in making this day feel as good as it did!

Hehe, thank you! We were being silly! And yes, I know it's not a scientific figure, but if I had to guess, I'd say that there are about a zillion moose.
