The cocoon...

The days are growing longer, warmer, and new things are beginning. I am starting to look at my life in a new light. So many little moments have brought me to where I am now and as I ponder them, I wonder at all of the various new moments I have yet to create.

This might be a bit silly, but these days, so much in my life is so uncertain (although at the same time, the possibilities are endless... I have nothing tying me to any particular person or place and with my collection of academic degrees, I could go just about anywhere and do just about anything, which is both liberating and terrifying at the same time) that I continually find myself thinking about caterpillars and butterflies.

The whole concept of metamorphosis seems uncannily appropriate at this point in my life.

And so, as the days are growing longer, I find myself moving outside, trying to push myself out of the cocoon that I built around myself when I moved back to America and now, I'm wondering what sort of butterfly I'll emerge as next...
