Oh, America... This is my first 4th of July back in the states in 3 years and truth be told, it's a little weird. Two years ago on this day, SB and I were in Normandy. I think I just got used to being in far away places on this national holiday.
This year, I've been doing a bit of exploring and while I live in a busy Chicago suburb now, just a 15 minute drive takes me out into what I would consider to be "the country" (dirt roads, corn fields, blue sky, and cicadas buzzing... basically that quintessential image that many people call up when they hear the word "America"). SB is home and I got to see him last night for the first time in almost 6 months, but we weren't lucky enough to snag the day together today.
I don't know. Life has just changed so much in the last year. I miss being overseas and visiting different countries with my travel buddy. This year, it's just "the country" and me...
