#SustainableSunday with Wooden Journey...

Sunday, January 12, 2020

My dear Green Bees, I want to thank you so much for allowing me to take several weeks off from posting for a maternity leave/post-holiday recovery period.  It was wonderful to have a few weeks off from my full-time job and from here to try and figure out what "normal" looks like now that we are a family of three, but what better way to jump back into things than with a family walk?

We've been trying to take as much advantage as possible of the weather when it is relatively warm to take Stellan out into the world, and we have been super lucky with several 50 degree days upon which to do so.  Something that the hubby and I have gotten used to tossing into the diaper bag on our adventures out into the world are our sunglasses from Wooden Journey.

The peeps at Wooden Journey are making some pretty rad wooden specs and wooden watches (in really cool wooden boxes) to help promote re-forestation.

But wait... if their products are made of wood, how does that help forests?  Well, all of their goods are made using sustainably sourced woods.  They've primarily used bamboo grown on farms so that they don't contribute to the rapid deforestation that our planet is currently experiencing.  They've also created something called the "Wooden Journey Commitment," which means that for every purchase through their store, they plant 3 trees in the Amazon rainforest, clean 1,000 gallons of ocean water, and offset 1,000 pounds of emissions. To date, they have already planted 100 trees around the world and have offset over 30,000 pounds of carbon!

SunStars and I are really enjoying our new sunnies and Stellan liked them, too (scroll down for a snap)!  They fit nicely and are quite comfortable.  We also really enjoy that the lenses are polarized, so when we are out wandering and showing Stellan the world, we aren't getting super distracted by glare!

What's sustainable about this outfit?

: the sunglasses are made from sustainable bamboo
: the tee is organic cotton
: the earrings and bracelet are fair trade and handmade
