#SustainableSunday with Pamut...

Sunday, January 28, 2018

I may be in the desert, but I'm going to the ocean in my mind...

At least, I am in this ocean conservation tee from Pamut!

Here are the details:  Pamut is a North Carolina-based brand with a seat in one of my favourite European countries: Budapest.

Pamut is all about keeping things as local as possible, supporting small business, using organic textiles, and doing what they can to improve the general state of the earth.  Everything starts with locally-sourced GOTS-certified organic cotton.  These fiber are then taken to a North Carolina knitting factory, where they are turned into the fabric that is eventually turned into tees by men and women who are paid a fair living wage (also in North Carolina).  Next, the tees are sent to a couple of small-scale printers (yep, in North Carolina), where they are screen printed with water-based inks that don't contain any of the carcinogens that regular inks have.  Once Pamut has sent product through all of these steps, they are posted online for sustainably-minded consumers.  A real bonus for me is that Pamut has a special line of tees, called Tees for Good.  Each of these tops helps to support a cause.  For me, it was a no brainer: I had to go for their Ocean Conservation top, though their Nature Conservation tee was a close second on my wish list.
