#SustainableSunday with Bubbe Clips...

Sunday, May 17, 2020

I know, I know... we are all doing everything that we possibly can to reduce our dependence on plastics, but there are some things that are just waaaaay too complicated to make yourself and that truly only come in a single-use package.  SunStars made potato chips a few weeks ago, and they were awesome, but took a long time.  We've also put ingredients for bagels on the shopping list more than once while this pandemic has been going on, but it seems like the rest of the world is also trying to learn to make bagels, so we have yet to be successful there.

Because there are still some single-use plastic-wrapped snacks that we haven't given up or found alternatives to, we've been happy to have discovered Bubbe Clips.  These wooden bag clips help to keep those bagged snacks fresh longer, so we don't end up creating food waste on top of also having less-than-eco-friendly bags to toss out.

These sweet little clips are made in Vermont from sustainably-sourced wood.  They are super easy to use with both paper and plastic bags, and they actually look pretty fancy when they go to work.  All you need to do to use them is fold over your paper bag and weave the clip through it, or thread a twisted plastic bag through the tines of the clip.  Bubbe Clips are nice and grippy, so they keep bags closed and food fresh! Also, since these clips aren't made of plastic and don't have springs and other parts, they would be super difficult to break the way that cheap plastic clips often do.  That means that even less stuff ends up in a landfill!

They would also make a fun gift for someone who loves organization, is looking to take steps to living more sustainably, or for the person who has everything (may as well give them something planet-friendly)!
