#SustainableSunday with Swahili Coast...

Sunday, February 18, 2018

The Swahili Coast is a cooperative that is all about creating partnerships in developing countries that will create a thriving business and help people live better lives.  All of their outlets are worker-owned, worker-financed, and focused on females.  80% of Swahili Coast co-op members are women and because it is a co-op, at the end of each month, all profits are shared back to the artisans who create all of wonderful pieces on offer!

I love these hoop earrings, made in traditional Maasai colours.  They match with everything and add a wonderful pop of colour to any outfit.  Knowing that they were handmade by women in Tanzania who are able to earn a fair living wage makes me feel even prouder to wear them and show them off!

The Swahili Coast has a wonderful range of jewelry, shoes, towels and homewares.  Be sure to show them some love by clicking through to their page!  Share some extra love by posting your favourite products in the comments below!

What's sustainable about this outfit?

: the earrings are handmade and fair trade
: the top was a hand-me-down
: the bracelets were handmade from repurposed items
: the ring was sustainably handmade
