A brief journey to the middle of nowhere...

Ok, so it's not totally the middle of nowhere... but it's far enough away from what I would call "civilization" that I briefly found myself panicking at the lack of wifi and Starbucks (because really... wifi + Starbucks= civilization, right?).  

I wandered my silly self all the way from Chicago to said Middle-of-Nowhere to enjoy some outdoor theatricals wonder at American Player's Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin (for real... if you get the chance to take in a show here, DO IT).  Since I had two evening shows booked on different nights, I got a whole day to go for a drive and found myself landed smack dab in the middle of a town where history has been frozen (aka Mineral Point, Wisco).  Aside from my ability to find anything resembling espresso, I will say that I really enjoyed my day.  Most of the shops were closed, but I met a weaver who was kind enough to give me a brief lesson on the workings of her loom, got the best pasty I've been able to find outside of England (mmmmm, rutabagas!), and stumbled upon an antique armoire that had been painted the exact same colour as my nail polish.  

All in all... a lovely place in which to while away a day!  I need more of these!  15 days and counting until I move to Germany with Soldier Boy!!!

      Oh, I was being slightly sarcastic because where I live now, there is at least one Starbucks every few miles! If I really get desperate, I always know I can get Starbucks on base and there is one in Munchen!

      How adorable is that little library? My mum and aunt walked right past it until I called their attention to it! I was actually surprised at the books inside... Kafka and Virginia Woolf!

    Not so far from civilization as you may think. What (in my humble opinion) is the greatest family-run Japanese restaurant in the Midwest, maybe in the whole U.S.A., is right there on High Street in Mineral Point.

      I noticed the Japanese restaurant and wondered at it! I feel like Mineral Point really wouldn't be the place to go for Japanese food, but it certainly smelled good! We definitely enjoyed our sandwiches from the Grey Dog! They packed big-city style, for sure!

    "Middle of nowhere" looks like such a cute little town! Love your outfit here too; very pretty summer look!

    You recently asked me what camera I use. Here's my answer: I use a Nikon D3000 with the basic lens that comes in the kit. I want to invest in a better lens within the next few months. I assume you asked because you liked my picture quality, which makes me really, really happy! If you asked for another reason it's ok too, haha.

      Thanks, Jillian! How sweet was that tiny lending library? There were actually a few of them scattered around town and most of the shops had their own lending libraries, as well!
