… Yes, it's true. I woke up this morning and realized that I'm in love with Jim Morrison. In order to explain why, I need to go back a few years. Let me set the stage for you…:
I pretty much always had a clue who Jim Morrison was. This is due to the fact that growing up, my dad had a killer cassette tape collection and we'd habitually rock out to The Doors (and The Grateful Dead) while hunting down Beanie Babies.
My first real interaction with Jim Morrison was in Paris, June, 2008. I was a doe-eyed, dewy-skinned 21-year old studying abroad in the City of Light. I was what my friends called "well-rounded" as I'd go to class, hang out with the smart people (who have all gone on to become doctors of various types) in museums and such, run home for dinner, and then meet up with the party friends to "boîte de unit" hop until the Metro opened up at 0600h (roughly around sunrise).
I'm getting off topic…
Anywho, I was with my smart friends on a day trip to a city for which we had no map, but I was somehow able to use my intuition (or "inner hippie," as it was renamed) to find all of the places that we needed to go. One afternoon, we decided to visit Le Cimetière du Père-Lachaise. Now, if you haven't been to this cemetery, let me tell you that it is bloody huge. There are so many famous historical figures buried here that they give tours to visit all of their graves. They also provide maps, but you have to pay for these and as broke college students, we decided to save our centimes for croissants and rely on my inner hippie. First stop: the grave of Mr. Jim Morrison.
… I found it within 5 minutes. No maps. The cemetery wasn't uber crowded at this point, so I wasn't relying on following crowds. I just knew where it was.
Flash forward to May 2014. I have a cold. I woke up from a night of cold medicine-induced dreams and was absolutely overjoyed to find that I had not, in fact, sprouted a Ron Burgundy-style 'stache as my dreams nightmares had led me to believe. In an effort to perk myself up, I put on some 1970s music (cos I took the Buzzfeed quiz, and it turns out, I belong in the 1970s) and The Doors came on… and I realized that I was in love.
… also, as a 27.5-year old, I was a bit hesitant to try out the crop top trend, but I flipping love it! Thanks, Deb, for such a fun outfit!

Thank you!
DeleteWhy thank you! It is a happy (not…) little story about a snobby popular girl who gets pregnant, loses the baby, and runs away and becomes a drug addict. It is in no way autobiographical, but I clearly, wrote it during a rather dark time of my life.
