Well, tout le monde, Soldier Boy surprised me today, which doesn't happen too often. I had to go to work for a few hours and when I was finished, he decided to kidnap me and take me to Schwetzingen Palace, about an hour away from where we live. This is the so-called "Versailles of Germany" and it definitely reminded me to Versailles. The central piece of palace itself was small (ok… it was like 25x the size of our house, but you get what I mean, right?) and was flanked by a couple of uber long wings that were being used for a piano concert and about 4 different wedding receptions. There were brides EVERYWHERE!
Instead of touring the palace, we opted to stay out in the lovely fresh air and wander around the gardens. They were absolutely huge! There are hedge mazes (or not really mazes, but we felt like we were in Wonderland), statues, fountains, temples, a mosque, bridges a la Monet, and meadows. After a failed attempt at geocaching, we were booted from the gardens, as they close to the general public just before sunset and wandered home to a lovely Korean dinner and night of watching Star Wars!
… are we well-rounded nerds, or what?
