… They're real, and delicious!
Well, tout le monde, vacation has come to and end. We stuffed our faces on the cruise ship early in the morning, packed up our things, and hopped off the boat (we only had carry-on luggage, so we were able to bypass the whole cruise-ship-luggage-collection process) and headed back into Venice for the day.
Now, I think I've mentioned this before, but SB and I are insane cheapskates. Like really, really cheap. So cheap, that instead of paying the 7 Euros per bag per day to stash our luggage at the bus stone (which was right by the bus that we'd need to get on to get to the airport) we lugged our things all the way from Piazza Roma, over the Rialto Bridge and through a veritable labyrinth of shops and restaurants to find a mask shop that we'd found at the beginning of vacation. Keep in mind that we had 10 days worth of stuff PLUS all the souvenirs we picked up along the way… but we saved 14 Euro, which was great because we didn't have 14 Euro in cash between us.
We had 12 Euro, which we spent on lunch and one cappuccino to share, which we did, and then we walked around some more, got tired of walking around, sat out by the Grand Canal for about an hour, realized that we still had another 2 hours before we needed to get onto the bus for the airport, so we used our remaining 4 Euro on two more cappuccinos, which had me bouncing off the walls.
It was great. By the time we took the bus to the airport, waited at the airport, flew back to Germany, and made the 2 hour drive from the airport home, I was wide awake enough (it was 2 AM) to unpack, get the laundry started, and clean the house!

You're making me blush! Thank you!
DeleteWe walked right past that little café last summer, I remember the little green umbrellas. (I should add that we were dragging our luggage from the train station past the cafe to a little hole in the wall hotel in a square nearby. And I had a big checked suitcase, a full sized carry on, and my big purse. Lol. I'd do it all over again to be back!
ReplyDeleteWe are twins! I think SB and I have adopted it as "our" restaurant in Venice, though we can't remember what it is called if our lives depended on it!

DeleteCute photos! Wow, very organised - I think I've just about got on top of the laundry since getting home after the cruise! And as for cleaning, it doesn't stay that way for long so that's what I'll be up to tomorrow! xxx

Thanks, Emma! I do try! I was insanely wired! It was ridiculous. I don't think I could have managed to sit still even if I'd been shackled down!
