It has pockets...

Is it just me or when someone tells you that they like your dress (that happens to have pockets) is the first thing out of your mouth "Thanks, it has pockets!"? (Whoa, grammar <---)

My last night in Vegas happened to also be my mum's birthday, and since she gave up her birthday to help me load a moving truck, we had to go out and celebrate her all evening. In order to do that, obviously, I needed something cute to wear.

Enter Global Mamas, an awesome fair trade brand that is based in Ghana. Everything in their line is hand-crafted by women who use traditional techniques. Their textiles are hand batiked and all clothing items, like this dress, are hand-made. The artisans working for Global Mamas are paid a fair living wage and over the years, have been able to use those wages to do things like build homes, support their children's educations (through university), and move on to start businesses of their own. Artisans are also invited to participate in personalized hands-on training, product development, and organizational decisions within the company.

I think it's safe to say that their fissure print Sunset dress was just the thing for my mum's birthday celebration! The print was created by hand and I love that because the entire garment was handmade, it's totally unique. There will never be another one just like this one! Of course, the pockets are definitely another favourite feature!
