Ok, let me level with you here just a bit: it was FREEZING outside when we took these photos. That being said, the weather is changing and that means that it's officially time to wear boots. One of the bigger struggles I've encountered while transitioning my wardrobe to one that is as ethical and sustainable as possible has been finding shoes that are fun and fit the bill.
I am quite happy to have paired with new brand, Artisans of Inti to help introduce their very first collection ever! This Peru-based company has developed a range of incredibly fun men's and women's footwear. Everything is made with ethical leather and hand-woven textiles. I was able to customize these Chaska boots from their new collection and my new favorite cobbler, José did an amazing job of selecting just the right bits of textile to go along with the maroon leather. He's been a shoemaker for over 20 years and sources his textiles from female weavers in the Paucartambo, Cusco. He (and all of the other artisans) are also paid fair living wages (which is great because José hopes to someday open a school to teach students from low-income families to make shoes), everything is done in safe workshops, and everything is made in ways that help to preserve traditional shoemaking techniques.
The current collection has 7 different styles that can be totally customized. You can choose the leather and textile colours of your choice and then you can input your specific foot measurements so that your boots are really and truly just yours! Mine fit like a glove!
To help get things up and running, Artisans of Inti have a few holiday promos running! Use code: HOLIDAYSPIRIT to receive $15 off of an online order or use code: SLOWFASHIONHOLIDAY for 15% off of all purchases of $300 or more!
