#SustainableSunday with Lakeshore Dry Goods round 2...

Sunday, April 26, 2020

Ok, I'll admit it: I had a pretty easy pregnancy.  I never got sick, I didn't get wild and crazy cravings, and even managed to avoid a mad dash to the hospital in the middle of the night when it was "go time."  However, one symptom that was pretty consistent for my entire pregnancy was backache.  Long days of teaching, whether I was on my feet or if I allowed myself to stay in my rolling desk chair didn't seem to impact the aches and pains in my back, so finding relief once I got home was key.

One of the things that saved me was my Sunrise Bliss organic cotton hair towel from Lakeshore Dry Goods.  Now, I will admit, when my first hair towel arrived, my initial thought was "I am trying to live minimally.  Is this something that I really and truly need in my life?" I mean, I already had bath towels that I've pretty much always used to dry my hair post-shower.  However, after a few showers, and especially after becoming pregnant, the answer to the aforementioned question was a resounding "Yes."

These hair towels are made of GOTS-certified organic cotton à la t-shirt in a range of super cute prints.  The light weight of this fabric provides a whole host of benefits for your hair and for your body, like: less pressure on your neck and back, less frizz, and drier hair.  Instead of being buried under a massive mountain of slipping and sliding terrycloth, you can twist your towel up and feel something like the Chiquita Banana Lady while having hands that are free to do more important things... you know... like feeding the baby.

And let's just talk for a moment about the breakage and hair loss that would come from having a traditional bath towel on your head.  I've got quite enough of that post-pregnancy hair loss going on as is.  I do not need anything to help it along.  This new medium metallic dot towel is big enough to wrap around my long hair (my first, size small towel came just after I'd chopped off and donated 15 inches of hair), and is able to protect my long locks from the bonus loss that would certainly accompany the use of my bath towels.

These towels are a game-changer for just about anyone, but with Mother's Day right around the corner, mamas: I'm looking at you!  These towels will literally alter your whole shower routine, which during a quarantine might completely change your life for the better!
