Out with the old...

abandoned buildings, flower crown, floral crown, headpiece, motorcycle boots, urban decay, denim cutoffs, white tee, henna tattoo

Rant, rant, rant... I'm moving and getting rid of everything, blah, blah, blah.  Great.  Now that that's out of my system I can tell you how cool this photoshoot was!  I'm trying to take advantage of all the fun and exciting places to photoshoot near my home and really needed to squeeze this spot in!  For those of you who have been following along for a while, you'll remember my "Bump in the night..." cemetery post where I told you all about my love of ghost hunting and taking over creepy places, so this was totally up my alley!

I've basically lost track of time, at this point (it's that darn oatmeal brain again!), but a week or so ago, I was driving around and noticed that the giant parking lot where school buses had been parked for, oh, my whole entire life in this town (nearly 2 decades) was empty... but the gate to the lot was open... so I took over and tried to be all editorial and haute vogue and such with an old gas pump.  On that day, I noticed that there was a shed that was open and had some chairs and miscellany but I didn't have time to shoot again in a different location, so when I was early for a mini going away party today, I figured I'd stop and check it out.  It's always a bit frightening going into an abandoned building in any state of decay, especially alone,  because you really don't know what you'll find there: bugs, gangsters, homeless people, etc.  While I've been lucky and only found big bugs on solo excursions, I highly encourage you to bring a friend or two if you decide to take over any sort of urban (or rural) ruin.

Anyway, love stumbling into a place that is in a state of decay.  This particular spot was tiny and there were cobwebs everywhere.  It was full of mismatched chairs, had an ashtray full of cigarette butts,  neglected coffee cups and all in all, just a mish mosh of stuff.  Everything was covered in a thick layer of dust, and while (as always) I was afraid of being chased out by a cop (cos this actually happens to me on a semi-regular basis) and I was afraid of scary bugs and spiders (because scary bugs and spiders are scary), but it really looked like the people who once worked here literally just got up and left and nothing has been disturbed ever since.  Seriously... you can't arrange a set this perfectly.  I nearly fell straight through a chair while trying to stand on it (to be editorial, bien sur) and I think I may have jumped about a mile high after spotting what I thought was the biggest beetle I've ever seen (in or out of  a museum) climbing up the wall, but it turns out it was just a plastic bugger that someone taped there.  Ha ha ha... fooled me!  Weeeeeee... T-5 days until I become an expat!
