Bugs…

Monday, August 11, 2014

Hey, ya'll… did you know that there are bugs in the forest and that they will bite you?  It's true!  Bugs (ok yes, and arachnids) are everywhere.  I nearly walked into this spider web, that was miraculously suspended over the middle of the trail by threads hung from trees on either side of the path.

I've told you before that I am definitely a city girl, though I live in a place that is surrounded by nature.  As a child, I was the ultimate oxymoronic tomboy, spending long hours playing in the woods behind my house before heading off to ballet lessons and somewhere in my adolescence, the dirt-digging, bon firing, fort building being in me was squelched by tall buildings, cab rides, and speakeasies (really… they are all over NYC… oops… I shouldn't have told you that!).

Lately, I've found myself giving up on living in a loud city and surrendering back to the quiet of my little village and surrounding forests.

While bugs still freak me out, I'm slowly learning to embrace the beauty that can be found in their bodies and in what they create.

… also, I have purple hair in these snaps, but it's really hard to tell.
