Substitution…

Monday, December 8, 2014

I have to give some mad props to the genius who invented going for a walk to clear one's head.

What an insanely frustrating day.  Must vent.

Remember last year, when I was scrambling to find a job so that I could stay in Germany for longer than 90 days?  Remember how I interviewed at a school and was told that I'd be hired as a sub, transitioned into aiding and then moved into a full-time lead teaching position when one came available?  Remember how when I went to in-process, I got halfway through the paperwork and then was told that I wasn't eligible for the job and would have to get another job, apply again, and then start working?

Remember how I got another job, completed my in-processing at the school and then worked too many hours with the other job to sub?  Remember how I then fought to arrange this year's schedule so that I'd have time to sub?

Ugh… I've subbed a whopping 4 times since this school year started and even though I kind of like having some down time during the workweek, when they call and ask me to come in all day on Friday (my day off), I agree, roll out of bed at 6:30 AM, wear teacher clothes and get to school on time.  This last Friday, as I was settling into my classroom for the day and looking over lesson plans, I got a call from the office to come down IMMEDIATELY.  When I got there I was told that "WE HAVE A PROBLEM" and that I had to leave right away (forget the fact that the school day started in 2 minutes).  Apparently, my contract to sub expired 2 months ago, and even though I've subbed twice since it actually expired, I had to go home, completely re-apply to sub and will now have to wait until some federal bureaucrat decides to look over the paperwork, send some more forms back to the school, wait for the school to have time for me to come and in-process (a third time) and then I can start again.

Grrrrr…. at least I had the day to go home, wander around in the woods, notice and photograph some natural pretties and then take a nap…
