A wandering we will go...

Monday, January 11, 2016

I thought I'd take a bit of a break from travel photos from Poland after last week's emotional post about Auschwitz and Birkenau, but I have so many more photos to share!

These snaps were all taken on New Year's Eve Day (that's a mouthful).  We started our morning at the Rynek Underground museum, had a bit of a Polish feast in the main square and then headed to the Jewish District of the city.  It was my favorite part of our whole Poland adventure.  Never mind the fact that it was below zero and I was wearing 2 pairs of trousers, 3 pairs of socks, 2 shirts, a sweater, two pairs of gloves, a hat, and my giant goose down coat.  My face about froze, but being out and about in this part of the city kind of woke me up and fueled me on.

The main purpose of our adventure here was to visit Schindler's Factory (yep, the one from the movie), but I made quite an excursion of wandering around, photographing street art, and managed to convince SB to duck into the cutest little coffee shop (Satori Café) for some jazz music and a cappuccino to help combat the cold!

I will probably post some snaps of Schindler's Factory, as it was another intense experience (especially after re-watching the movie upon our return home).  After the museum, we stumbled onto one of my all-time favorite things: a parking lot full of food trucks, took a few snaps and ended up having an amazing pre-dinner snack of Israeli yums at Hamsa Restobar and then headed back into the main square for some NYE celebration.  Of course, my knee gave out and we ended up back at our hostel before midnight, but hey... it was still a good day!

Can anyone tell me what this says ^?  I can't read Hebrew, but thought that this wall was rather lovely.

If anyone knows where I can get mezze bowls like this Hamsa hand, please let me know!  I've been scouring the internet to no avail!

    1. Aren't they adorable? I asked where the restaurant got them and they sent me to a website, but I still can't find them!
