Goodbye, Grandpa Jack...

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Anyone else ever cry when they sell a car?

'Cos I totally did.

Yep.   Even though this car and I had a true love/hate relationship over the past two years, I definitely cried as Grandpa Jack (yes, I name my cars) was driven away by his new owner.

When I moved to Germany 2 1/2 years ago, I was super stoked.  I'd always wanted to live in Europe and that's what I was doing.  I'd wanted to go back to dance and the job I found to keep me in Europe was teaching dance.  And I'd wanted a bug since they were re-released in the late '90s... and so I bought one for myself.  With a few ups and downs, it was grand.

But now life is becoming a big more fluid and the car had to go.  And since I'm a cheeseball, I decided to have a photo shoot with GJ before he drove off into his new life.

  2. Ummmm, yes, I cry when I turn in a car, give away my sons toys, or throw away the Christmas tree. I actually think there is a name for it. Great post!

  3. Aww! This is so cute (and so is your outfit)! I have never felt this way about giving up a car before since my previous cars were pretty much bad decisions. But since I'm now driving my very first brand new, off the lot car, I might cry when it's time to give this one up.

    1. Haha! This car was kind of a whimsical decision! I can't tell you how many times I had technical issues with it, but still, I cried!

  7. Yes...I too have cried when I traded in a vehicle. My sweet blue Jeep Cherokee...oh, did I love her. As I was cleaning her out at the dealership I was totally in tears so I feel your pain. On a brighter note, I absolutely love that jacket! The details are fabulous. And I have almost the exact same booties...I just wore them the other day.

    1. Do you think we're touched because we cry over inanimate objects?

    1. I'd wanted a bug since they came out. I thought about getting one when I lived in the states, but I couldn't afford one. I was so stoked when I found one in Germany.
