The roller coaster...

Thursday, January 21, 2016

You know how they (who are they, anyway?) say that life is a roller coaster?  While I have a strong dislike for the analogy (I find it a bit campy), it's way too true.  Maybe that's why I don't like it.  And this may turn into a rant.

My life has taken a few turns lately that have really gotten me to realize that in a certain light, life seems to be full of survival.  Cut and dry dealing with stuff and nonsense that leaves little time to actually live.

And I want to know why we put up with it.  Life doesn't have to be about toiling away endless hours at a mindless job just to pay the bills that get us the basic things we need for survival (food, shelter, etc.).  Why do so many people (potentially including me) put up with doing things that we don't want to do?  To please others?  Because we think we're stuck?  Because even though we don't feel stuck, someone told us that we're stuck and we choose to believe them?

While on a verbal rant earlier today, I was told that life wouldn't be life if there was only happiness.  That there has to be sadness for there to be happiness or there will be nothing but complacency.  There must be a yin to the yang.  But what I'm still puzzling over is why there has to be SO much sadness in so many places.

  3. Life wouldn't be life without contrast, whether that means happiness v. sadness or comfort v. discomfort. I think too many time we forget that happiness is an inside job and that it's our duty to love and uplift our fellow humans as best we can. But I digress....Love your look.

    1. I suppose it is true. I think I have one of those brains that fixates more on the negatives than the positives and it makes me feel like everyone is always suffering.

  6. Life is a puzzling thing! Sometimes we need to be a little bit selfish and do things for ourselves, rather than trying make others happy. If something feels right, then go for it. We all need to inject more positivity into our lives, however we can! :) xxx
