#SustainableSunday with Salvari...

Sunday, August 5, 2018

As you may have realized over the last few weeks, I am totally hooked on sea turtles.  From crying during the sea turtle episode of "Planet Earth 2" to sporting a new sea turtle sarong and t-shirt, I'm hooked.  That's why, when the Green Bees at Salvari reached out, I jumped at the opportunity to feature their leatherback turtle shell pendant.

Salvari is a UK-based company that has set out to save the would through sustainably-made jewelry.  All of the pieces in their new necklace line are made from ethical materials in as green a manner as possible.  Each pendant represents a different endangered species (i.e. Manta ray, bluefin, and rhino horn, to name a few) to help spark necessary conversations about wildlife conservation.  The name "Salvari" was inspired by the Latin word: Servare, meaning "to save or preserve." It's a perfect fit!

Obviously, the leatherback pendant really spoke to me because it very obviously demonstrates the negative impact that humans have had on turtle species.  Notice the indentation around the turtle shell and you can probably call to mind that infamous image of the turtle that got stuck in a 6-pack ring.  This pendant was designed with that, and similar images, in mind.  In addition to supporting reforestation efforts, 10% of the proceeds from the leatherback pendant go to Oceanic Global to further aid in ocean conservation efforts.  Salvari has partnered with a number of other land-based partners to further support environmental conservation efforts.

Please take a few moments to click over to their brand new site and check out the whole line of gorgeous silver, gold vermeil, and 9ct gold pendants and help them save the world!
