Soul sustainability...

Sunday, August 7, 2016

Oh boy, I have spent the last 3 days in the car, driving across the country from my Chicago suburb out to Las Vegas.  As someone who loves road trips, but doesn't particularly enjoy driving, this trip has been a challenge, but I'm really proud of how well I've been handling going fast and whipping around sharp curves in the mountains (in the rain).

Since it is #SustainableSunday, I wanted to share with you these snaps, taken at home the day before my big move.  I'm sporting another wonderful piece from Synergy Organic Clothing and my Soresa earrings from Paisley + Sparrow, so this is a sustainable look, but what I really want to chat about are the things that are sustaining me as a person right now.

Change is scary and there is a lot of it happening now.  I touched on my fears of packing up and moving far, far away from my home base on Friday as I was prepping to pack up the car and head out and since then, I've had a ton of feedback, thanking me for admitting my fear, since it tends to come off that I am just a total tumbleweed and will stop at nothing to get myself a good wander.

What I will say is that knowing that I will have a new place to explore is one of the things that has sustained me through this busy time.  Whenever the "what ifs" start to cloud my mind, I start googling day trips near Vegas and looking at photos of all the things there are to do in that corner of the world and that I haven't already experienced. It's a bit tricky because one part of me is definitely a wanderer, but the big 3-0 is right around the corner for me and so part of me is really wanting to settle down.  SB has been notoriously missing from these pages over the last several months because our life paths lead us to different places, but our they are about to cross paths again soon and I have got to admit somewhere that knowing that is the other thing that's sustaining me through this move.  Travel and the hope of having love in my life again soon.  Simple as that...

What sustains you when your life gets intense?

  3. Love your tank! It has a great design and the colors are great together. As far as sustainability is concerned, life can always throw us through loops and make us question our decisions, but stay true to yourself and you'll be guided to happiness and where you're supposed to be. I live pretty close to Vegas, so I would suggest making a road trip to Southern Utah to visit the National Parks and where I currently work at the Utah Shakespeare Festival and the Southern Utah Museum of Art. I think Vegas also has good hiking near a National Recreational Area and Bellagio's indoor gardens are always refreshing to visit! Not sure if Lake Tahoe is far away, but that might be an option too!

  4. Amazing post! I totally know how you're feeling about change. I'm moving in September so whenever I get nervous I'm forever googling places nearby where I'm living so I can distract myself with all the exciting places I'll have to go! You look stunning as always, good luck with everything x
