#FreebieFriday with Conscious Step...

The world is a complicated place these days and if you've been a reader here for a while, you'll know how important I think it is to use your purchasing power for good.  I get a real peace of mind from knowing that the products that I put on my body, share with my family, and consume haven't negatively impacted someone on the other side of the world. 

Last weekend, I shared Conscious Step with you.  They partner with non-profits to support human and environmental causes through the sale of socks!  Yep!  Their socks are made of organic cotton (which comes from small farms) in a fair trade factory in India and then they donate a portion of sales from each pair of socks straight back to the non-profit they're working with. 

Today just so happens to be World Environment Day, so we thought that we'd team up for a giveaway!  This gift set of ankle socks help to give water.  They help to support worldwide efforts through water.org (this one set of 3 pairs of socks provides one person access to safe drinking water for a year)!  They are also super soft, made of organic cotton, and are great for summer!

#FreebieFriday with Aid Through Trade...

You saw these last in our most recent #SustainableSunday post and now I am so happy to let you know that these gorgeous handmade bracelets are up for a giveaway!  Yes, pals, my partners at Aid Through Trade have offered up a set of their new Havana bracelets for one lucky : Green Chic Life : reader!  

All of the bracelets in their shop are handmade in one of three village sites around Nepal.  There are 200 artisans who lovingly hand make each of these beaded roll-on bracelets.  The artisans also sign each tag so you can feel more connected by knowing that a real person created the gems you're wearing.  You can also hop over to their website to see short bios and photos of the artisan who crafted your jewelry.  The set that will be given away was made by Sunita B., who earns a fair living wage, benefits, and has a safe work environment!

: Trades of Hope bangle giveaway…

Happy New Year, tout le monde!  Since I tend not to be the best at resolutions, I wanted to kick off 2015 with a giveaway in partnership with a company that sends a really great message.  I heard about Trades of Hope through my go-to gal for Younique products (and the wonderful lady who brought you last week's makeup eraser #freebiefriday).  She approached me about Trades of Hope and asked me to get the word out, and I am more than happy to do so.  

If you haven't already heard of Trades of Hope, allow me to enlighten you a bit.  Trades of Hope is a home-based business that empowers women to take hold of their careers, but partners them up with female artisans in impoverished countries.  The whole ToH catalogue has been handmade by women all over the world.  The money they earn from the sale of their items is applied to helping them feed their families, attain medical care, and help to further their education.  

I selected this mixed metal bangle for this giveaway (see how I wore mine here) because I like that it melds three different metals and multiple textures into one, beautiful piece.  I may be getting a bit sentimental, but I thought that there was something wonderful and metaphoric about this piece.  I hope you enjoy it (and the idea behind this company) as much as I do.

Happy post-Christmas Friday, tout le monde!  I hope that your Christmas was totally, completely magical (I'll share some of my holiday with you tomorrow).  Today, I want to chat makeup!  Since 'tis the season for parties and NYE is just around the corner, we're busy filling in our brows, learning how to apply the perfect liquid liner and choosing the most festive lip colours possible… but what about after the party… when you just want to kick your heels off, pull the pins out of your hair and collapse into bed still wearing your sequined mini dress?

If you don't want to take a ton of time, messing with oily makeup removers and then having to use a cleanser to get all that oil off, I've got the perfect shortcut for you!  This makeup eraser is wonderful.  All you have to do is get it damp, swirl it around over your face and, voila!  Makeup removed!  Just toss it into the washing machine to clean it!  I just got one and am loving it!  I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first.  I mean, what can this super soft pink cloth do that a washcloth can't?  I'll tell you: It can effectively remove makeup without aggravating the skin… and you know I don't really ever review makeup products here unless I love them, so here you go…

Howdy, ya'll!  I'm super uber excited for this week's giveaway!  Because, you may remember, that I am a chronic drugstore health/beauty brand user, I don't often get to experience the fancy skin care regimen that so many people love.  Lucky for me, my pal Kristi recently became a consultant with Rodan + Fields and she wanted to share some of her fabulous skin care products with me (and you)?

Seriosuly, I felt like I had a new face after using this Micro-Derm paste.  It's scrubby, but not too scrubby.  Really, it's just scrubby enough that it feels like I am actually deep cleansing my skin without sloughing it all off.  And it smells good.  She also sent over a skin serum (blue capsule ^ there) which left my skin hydrated and uber smooth.  The silver capsule is full of lip serum that is glossy and actually lasts while simultaneously hydrating.  I really can't say enough good stuff about these products, which is super lucky for ya'll, because 3 of you are going to win a mini facial kit (all the stuff in the photo)!
